A lot of people coming to the Hackney Bikeworkshop also attend or are interested in Critical Mass a monthly bike ride which happens on the last Friday of each month.
Critical Mass is an international movement with autonomous rides happening in every large city in the world, it started in San Francisco in 1992 with London following the next year but in Rome they had to wait till 2002 but the Romans have made up for it by organising the Interplanetary Critical Mass in May every year. Called Ciemmona for short CM for Critical Mass being pronounced chm in Italian and mona meaning big Ciemmona means Critical Mass big and big it is with 10,000 bikes hitting the streets.
Some of the volunteers from the workshop will be going this year and if you are interested in joining us camping in Rome for a long weekend then e-mail the workshop at hackneybikeworkshop@gmail.com
